Polar Regions Webcams
The South Pole is located in the continent of Antarctica. It sits on a plateau that is 9,306 ft. high. The ice is over 9,000 feet deep in this region which makes the land under the ice about sea level. the South Pole moves about ten meters each year and all signs, flags, and monitoring stations are moved on January 1st of each year to compensate for this movement. The South Pole is moving toward the Weddell Sea. The North Pole is not a continent or region, but rather a sheet of ice floating in the Arctic Ocean. • Antarctica (4) |
