Maine is one of the six New England states of the US. It is surrounded by New Hampshire, Atlantic Ocean and the two Canadian provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick. The state is at the extreme Northeast of the region. The residents of the state are called Mainers. It is one of the most scenic places in the US, being decorated with rocky mountains, as well as heavy forests, a beautiful coastline and breathtaking waterways. The seafood served here is one of the world's best. The capital of the state is Augusta, while Portland is its largest city. Earlier, the state was a part of Massachusetts and got liberty on 15th March, 1820 becoming the 23rd US state at that time, after a controversial set of events. The state is home to many shipbuilding companies due to the scope of work here. Maine also possesses great tourism potential and value attracting valuable revenue.
